Amherst, NH - June 8, 2011 - Citadel Computer Corporation has announced the release of a Linux-based software image specifically configured to support Citadel's popular series of NetFORCE rugged industrial computers.

This operating system image is based on OpenSUSE Linux v11, the open-source version of Novell's commercial-grade SUSE Linux Enterprise 11 which is consistently rated among the top four or five Linux distributions along with Fedora, Ubuntu, Debian and others. OpenSUSE v11.4 has just recently been released.

Citadel Computer Corporation's NetFORCE Linux implementation delivers a software image specifically tailored to the rugged NetFORCE platform and provides a very low-cost secure configuration that includes fully integrated NetFORCE support for Cisco a/b/g wireless networking, integrated touch screen and serial bar-code scanners as well as VM-Ware's 'View' client utility. The entire software image is delivered on a single 8-Gbyte Compact FLASH card - ready to run.

Citadel Computer also offers other software development paths and O/S options for enterprise implementations of rugged 'full-system' and small-footprint thin-client NetFORCE configurations. These options include full support for Microsoft Windows XP Professional, Windows Embedded XP, Microsoft Windows 7 and Windows Embedded Standard 7 operating systems. Additional configuration support is underway for Microsoft's newly announced Windows Thin PC architecture.

Citadel Computer Corporation specializes in the design and manufacturing of rugged industrial computer systems for a wide variety of commercial, industrial and military applications in harsh environments.
